Tips for Securing your Sculpture |
||
Our sculptures are works of art and as such are designed for graceful and impressive appearance and a number of them therefore do have high centre of gravity and a relatively small footprint. Garden location An alternative method for location in flower borders and indeed as an option for hard standing locations is to affix the sculpture to a paving stone which can be fully or partially buried if desired. This is a beneficial method for particularly windy locations. Fixing to the paver can be effected by use of metal straps over the toes which can be secured to the paver with rawlplugs and screws. Another simple option is to place stones on the feet which are quite decorative and effective in some locations. The sculptures can of course be fixed to other objects such as bridges, decking, etc. One nice feature created by one of our customers was with a bough from a tree which he half buried and then cut sections to create flat areas for the feet and affixed a pair of herons. This made a wonderful display and indeed eye catching feature in his garden. In the home Certainly the smaller sculptures will stand on hard flat surfaces and on carpets (unless very deep pile) unaided. For the taller and small footprint sculptures we would recommend that they be fixed to a wooden plinth which can be of varying size depending on the sculpture and the surface on which it will be standing. Other possibilities are to place heavy objects on the feet such as stones or where located on a floor covering such as carpet, wooden floors etc. securing to or through the surface is an option but this method will cause permanent damage to the floor covering.
